Abbie Cardwell: Goodnight, Not Goodbye

I had the very great privilege of filming a private party for Mary Cannon, better known on air as "Sista Mary", a veteran community-radio presenter, music promoter and roots/country obsessive based in the Northern Rivers.

One of the artists she'd asked to perform was the extremely endearing Abbie Cardwell.

She makes even this sad song sound joyous, because she is a joyous person. She has a quiet grace and an eccentric sense of humor that allows her to transmute pain into beautiful music. It's a rare and wonderful gift.

This was probably one of the best videography jobs I've had yet. Lying on my back on cushions, listening to extremely good music at a beautiful house in the hills.
